Congress MLA Baba Siddique said that even after the chief minister’s intervention and stay order on the action, the BMC was demolishing the shrines of all faiths.

“The BMC chief has cited a Supreme Court order, but nowhere has the apex court ordered the demolition. The court has asked the state government to constitute its policy on the illegal shrines, but the state has failed to do so. This could lead to a serious law and order situation.”

Backing the Congress and NCP MLAs, MNS leader Bala Nandgaonkar blasted the civic chief Subodh Kumar and alleged that his working style was high-handed.

He said that even after the SC directives the state government has not decided upon the cut-off date and has not issued guidelines to the civic bodies about the action on the illegal shrines.
