Delhi cops seize Maoist literature from house in Pune

A two-man team of the Delhi police, assisted by the Pune anti-terrorist cell (PATC), conducted a raid and seized Maoist literature from a house at Shivnerinagar area in Kondhwa late on Monday night.

The action of the Delhi police comes in the wake of interrogation of a suspected Maoist, Arunkumar Salem, a few days ago in Delhi.
Sources in the city crime branch told DNA that the Delhi police came to know that Salem and his wife lived at Shivnerinagar in Kondhwa, where they had hired a house. PATC sleuths questioned six persons who were close to Salem when he stayed in Pune.

A police inspector attached to the special branch told DNA that the state and central intelligence agencies have given inputs to the city police about the possible covert Maoist activities in Kondhwa area. "The police, including the anti-terrorism squad, have increased vigil in that locality," he said.

The ATS had on May 13 arrested 10 suspected Maoists from West Bengal from Shirur in Pune district on May 13.
