Court issues notices to John Abraham’s victims

The Bombay High Court on Wednesday issued notices to the two victims - Tanmay Majhi and legal representatives of Shyam Kasbe - of the rash and negligent driving case involving Bollywood actor John Abraham.

Justice RC Chavan issued the notices informing the victims about the appeal filed by John challenging the 15-day jail awarded to him by the sessions court. Additional public prosecutor Rajshri Newton informed the court that as Kasbe succumbed to an illness a few years ago, his Pune-based mother has been made the respondent.

In the incident that occurred on April 8, 2006, Abraham rammed his Yamaha Hayabusa motorcycle into a bicycle on Carter Road in Bandra, injuring Tanmay and Kasbe. The lower court had fined him Rs 10,000 for rash and negligent driving and Rs500 for causing hurt. The appeal has been kept for hearing on May 7.
