A case has been registered against Nerul corporator Santosh Shetty, owner of the bus that was involved in an accident on Palm Beach Road on Friday morning. The case has been filed with the NRI police station. Shetty has been charged for neglecting the condition of the bus that was involved in the accident. He has been made the second accused in the case while, Munna Parsi, 41, the driver of the bus is the first accused and has already been arrested by the police. “We have registered a case against Shetty and will be arresting him soon,” said senior police inspector Rafeeq Bagwan of NRI police station.
At around 7.30am on Friday, the Delhi Public School bus (MH-04-G-3307) owned by Shetty rammed into another school bus (MH-04-G-2196) belonging to Seventh Day Adventist School, on Palm Beach Road. The DPS school bus was going from Vashi to the school, while the other bus was taking a right turn towards Karawe village. The DPS school bus was travelling above the speed limit and because of this, the
driver of the bus could not apply the brakes, causing the accident.
Nine students and two teachers from both the schools suffered minor injuries and were discharged from Vashi MGM Hospital after receiving first aid. Rohit Garg, 9, a Class V student of DPS is the only student who suffered a fracture and is still admitted in the hospital. The injured students were identified as Kalyan Akiraja, 15, Gopi Hefa, 9, Yash Malhotra, 8, Rohit Datta, 11, Sayyed Haq, 11, Disha Jain, 10, Essan Singh, 8, and Kavya Pawa, 6, while Priyali Rakshil, 40, and Sosa Kuriyan, 40, were the teachers who were injuried.
