A deputy superintendent of police (DySP) and his wife were allegedly manhandled and assaulted by private commandos of Hiranandani Complex over a car parking row recently.
Interestingly, even three days after the incident, the Powai police are yet to make any arrests in the case. The police had registered a case against five people, including four commandos and a watchman.
According to the police, on Friday, around 11am, (DySP) Rajendra Chavan and his wife Sneha, 38, went shopping at D-Mart in Hiranandani Complex. He parked his car near a private bank and after they returned, a watchman of a nearby building asked the couple why they had parked their vehicle there. This resulted in a heated exchange of words and the watchman informed his security chief.
“Within minutes, four private commandos arrived and joined the quarrel. Soon, there was a scuffle between Chavan and the commandos,” said assistant inspector Ashok Salve of the Powai police station.
“Chavan and his wife then filed a complaint at Powai police station,” Salve said, adding that the case was being investigated by the assistant commissioner of police Sakinaka
division.
Chavan was unavailable for comment.
