Conspiracy behind MNS attack on Hindi language: Munda

Ranchi: Former Jharkhand chief minister Arjun Munda today condemned the attack on Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Asim Azmi by the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and alleged conspiracy behind the ugly scene that occurred in the Maharastra Assembly.

"It is an attack on our national language and Constitution and threatens our unity," Munda told a news conference here.

"There might be a conspiracy behind it," added Munda, but did not elaborate what conspiracy he saw following the assualt by the MNS MLAs against Azmi in the Maharastra Assembly yesterday.

Say such things in any south Indian state - you would be lucky if you only get a slap. Azmi has stayed in Maharashtra for a long time -then why does he insist on Hindi? It's true that the national language should be respected; if it was thr Lok Sabha, his oath in Hindi would have been welcome - even for the MNS; but in the Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha, Marathi should rule. Azmi deserved such a reaction for being stubborn on this issue.
