Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on Saturday expressed confidence that the Congress-NCP alliance would win the upcoming civic polls.

Citing survey reports, Chavan said there are indications that the Congress-NCP alliance will dethrone the Shiv Sena and BJP-ruled civic bodies. "We have greater chances in Mumbai, Thane, Nashik and Nagpur," Chavan said.

"The state government has allocated Rs1 lakh crore for the development activities in Mumbai, whereas the budget of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is worth Rs21,000 crore. People will certainly ask where the money was spent by the ruling Sena," Chavan told a press conference, while releasing the joint election manifesto of alliance partners in Nagpur today.

Chavan said that the Congress-led alliance will leave no stone unturned in making Nagpur into an international city.

Development activities like expediting work on Multi Modal International Cargo Hub and Airport (MIHAN), SEZ and Gorewada International Safari, promoting wild life tourism and tiger capital will be taken up on priority basis, he said.

The Congress has already done well in the recently held municipal polls and will keep the tempo in the upcoming elections as well, he said.

He also targeted the BJP over the incident in Karnataka assembly in which, three BJP ministers were caught watching a porn clip.

Alliance partners Minister for Food and Civil Supplies Anil Deshmukh (NCP), People's Republican Party leader Jogendra Kawade, RPI leader Sadanand Fulzele and Congress leaders were present on the occasion.
