Committee formed to investigate attacks against IAS, state govt officers

Cases of attack on state government officers, employees and IAS officers while discharging their duties have increased in past few months.

In the wake of increasing cases on Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and state government officers and employees across the state, the state government has set up a committee to take a stock of cases regarding attacks on government officers, employees and IAS officers and ensure adequate step are taken to stop such cases.

 
According to an officer from the state home department, it has come to light that cases of attack on state government officers, employees and IAS officers while discharging their duties have increased in past few months. “Due to such instances, not only their moral goes down, but it also affects their work and they cannot perform their duties well,” said a home department official.
 
The government has hence set up a committee headed by additional chief secretary (Home) to take stock of these cases and ensure that First Information Report is registered immediately against the accused persons, investigations are done and chargesheet is submitted in the concerned courts.
 
Maharashtra director general of police, additional DGP Law and Order, Principal Secretary (Services) of General Administration Department, the officer who has been attacked- concerned department’s additional chief secretary, principal secretary or  secretary would be members of this committee.
 
The committee would hold a meeting once every month and chief secretary will take a stock of these cases and review meeting will be taken by him in every three months, said a government resolution issued by the state home department on Wednesday.
