It is not only the politicians and the municipal corporation trying for a huge turnout of voters. Bandra and Khar residents have joined them.

The members of Advance Locality Management (ALM) have asked all youngsters in the area who own cars to provide pick-up services to all senior citizens to make the voting process easy.

“Last time, a lot of people didn’t vote during the election. We are trying to make things easy for people so they can vote,” said Manuela Saldhana, secretary of the ALM.

The ALM members are also distributing election books to all housing societies so that they know the locations of their election booth. “A lot of people don’t go to vote as they are unaware of the locations. We are providing all important information on the elections,” said Manuela.

The ALM members of Khar Linking Road have sought help of the Khar police in getting the contact number of all the societies. “Recently, the Khar police collected the data of every flat in the area to deploy society policeman. We got all the contacts from the police,” said Aftab Siddiqui, activist and member of ALM. The residents will appeal to the low-income group to vote as there is big number of voters in the slum area.

On Sunday, ALM members have organized an event for the residents to interact with the candidates from the area. “Candidates will be able to tell what we can expect from them and it will give us some clarity about our decisions,” said Manuela.

One member from every family is in touch with the ALM to make sure every member of his family goes to cast his vote, said Aftab.
