Shiv Sena executive chief Uddhav Thackeray has claimed that the nallah cleaning work is going on well and 12% has been completed so far. But Sena corporator and works committee chairman Mohan Lokegaonkar alleges that the civic administration is fooling Uddhav and only 5% of the work has been done.

“The civic administration is showing only the nallahs that have been cleaned before his visit to Thackeray. The work has not been gone beyond 5%. This speed of cleaning the nallahs will not save the city from flooding,” he said.

According to Lokegaonkar, the nullahs at Shraddhanad Road, Dixit Road (Vile Parle) Dayaldas Road, Shriram Nagar- Airport nallah, Ghadiyali nallah (Santa Cruz) have not been cleaned.
He also alleged that the civic officials never fine the contractors for the shoddy work. “At many places the contractors do not lift the silt after cleaning the nallah which again flows in and chokes it,” he said.

Sunil Prabhu, Shiv Sena leader in the BMC said that this was Lokegaonkar’s personal opinion. “According to us, the cleaning of nallahs is satisfactory,” Prabhu said.

Subodh Kumar, civic chief stated that 7% of work has been completed. “It will be completed before the monsoon starts,” he said.
