Celebrity plastic surgeon Vijay Sharma, who was booked twice in the past for molestation of a woman journalist and a model, has now captured a model on CCTV who was trying to extort money from him.

Learning from his previous experience Sharma opted for electronic gadgets to avoid any such incident in the future. “In the past, I have been booked for false cases. So now, I have installed CCTV cameras in my clinic. In the past too, the complainants wanted me to perform cosmetics surgeries on them for free. But when I refused, they lodged complaints against me,” said Sharma.

A complaint has been registered against model Mahi Shah who had undergone a cheek surgery under Sharma a year ago. On February 15, Shah approached Sharma and asked him to return the money she paid for her surgery. She threatened to lodge a fake molestation complaint against him at Khar police station if he did not do so, said a police officer.

Shah was asked to come back for chemical filling for her cheek to maintain the glow on her face but she did not visit the doctor for one year. “She never came for the chemical filling. Now, suddenly after one year, she is asking for a refund,” said Sharma.

“She called me back on February 22 and asked whether I am giving a cheque or depositing Rs1 lakh in her account. But this time I had recorded her conversation,” said Sharma.

On Friday, Sharma approached DCP Pratap Dighavkar (Zone-9) and showed the CCTV footage where Shah was threatening Sharma in front of his mother who was present in his clinic. Sharma also gave the recording of their conversation.

“We have registered an FIR against Mahi and our investigations are on. We have called her to the police station. If found guilty, she will be arrested. Sharma have provided CCTV footage and audio recording of his and Mahi’s conversation,” said senior police inspector Mangesh Pote.

In October, 2011, a model had lodged a complaint of molestation against Sharma. In 2008, a female journalist from a local Hindi news channel had lodged a similar complaint against Sharma.

In one of the previous cases, Sharma was booked for molestation but got an acquittal from the court. The other case is pending in the court.
