CBI team in Ajmer for Malegaon blast probe

The special CBI team started the reinvestigation into the Malegaon blast case, following the confession made by Swami Aseemanand.

A special team of CBI re-investigating the 2006 Malegaon blast case, is currently on a visit to Ajmer for investigation. CBI is trying to put together the pieces of evidences, after the confession made by Hindu extremist Swami Aseemanand, in which he claimed at least four  blasts, which rocked the country in last few years including the one in Malegaon was the handiwork of Hindu radical groups.

CBI team had last month visited Malegaon for the same.

Two people were killed and 17 were injured, when a bomb exploded inside the Muslim shrine of Ajmer Dargah Sharif on October 11, 2007.

Initially, the names of Muslim radicals groups like HUJI and Lashkar-e-Tayyaba had cropped up, but the investigation took a new twist, when Hindu activist  Swami Aseemanand, who was arrested by the CBI, confessed of the involvement of Hindu groups in Hyderabad blast , Ajmer blast and 2006 Malegaon blast.

The special CBI team started the reinvestigation into the Malegaon blast case, following the confession made by Swami Aseemanand.

A source said that though the team is concentrating mainly on Malegaon blast, their visit to Ajmer is important, as it will help them put together the pieces of investigation. The sources also said that the team is not only visiting the blast site, but also questioning witnesses and the families of the victims.
