Case filed against corporator for showering flowers on temples

Nashik: Police have registered non-cognizance offences against nominated BJP's municipal corporator Vikrant Chandvadkar for showering flowers on holy places here and at Trimakeshwar by using helicopter, police said today.

Non-cognizance offences under Aeroplane Act 1934 Section 10 and 26 (d) were registered by the Panchavati police in Nashik and Trimbakeshwar police last evening and further investigation was in progress, police said.

Chandvadkar, office bearer of state unit BJP's youth wing and director of Sai Aviation Services on Thursday showered flowers from a helicopter on the famous Kala Ram temple, Balaji temple in Nashik and ancient Lord Shiva temple in Trimbakeshwar.

Police are probing weather Chandavadkar had obtained the required permissions including air traffic control for showering flowers on the temples, they said.

Meanwhile, Chandvadkar said, he has obtained all necessary permissions for the purpose.
