The government-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) on Thursday announced it would offer dedicated data plans for iPad with Wi-Fi + 3G in India, beginning January 28.

In a statement issued by the telecom major, all data plans will be available without a contract, providing the freedom to activate or cancel a plan at any time.

iPad allows users to connect with their applications and content in a more intimate, intuitive and fun way than ever before. Users can browse the web, read and send email, enjoy and share photos, watch high-definition videos, listen to music, play games and read e-books using iPad’s multi-touch user interface.

iPad with Wi-Fi + 3G models are 0.5 inches thick — thinner and lighter than any laptop or netbook — and deliver up to 10 hours of battery life.

“We are thrilled to provide data plans for iPad in India,” said Gopal Das, CMD of BSNL, adding that the company’s customised plan for iPad users will ensure users experience the best 3G and data services while enjoying iPad on BSNL’s high-speed network.

Further information on iPad and data plans is available on www.apple.com/ipad and www.bsnl.co.in respectively.
