‘Book ministers featured in CAG report’

The government should take back land from ministers involved, demands Girish Bapat

Chairman of Public Account’s Committee (PAC) of the state, and the Kasba Peth MLA Girish Bapat, on Monday, demanded action against those whose names have been figured in the Comptroller and Auditor General’s (CAG) report on the concessional allotment of public land to trusts linked to ministers and their near and dear ones.

Bapat demanded that the government should take back the land from them in public interest. He added that if needed those who are named in the CAG report should be booked.

The controversial CAG report was tabled last week in the Maharashtra assembly during the summer session. The CAG report had mentioned the name of senior ministers for allegedly using government land for other purposes.

The CAG report will be forwarded to the PAC headed by Bapat for its scrutiny.

After discussing the CAG report in the PAC meet, it would make recommendations to the state government.

Speaking about the delay in formation of Pune Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (PMRDA), Bapat said that the chief minister and the deputy chief minister are playing politics over the formation of the PMRDA.

The PMRDA will be headed by the chief minister. But the deputy chief minister does not want to lose his hold over Pune, PCMC and neighboring areas, he said
