The Vikhe Patil Memorial School in Pune, was, on Friday, restrained by the Bombay high court from admitting students to a Class XI division, which the CBSE School has handed over to a private institution.

The court issued interim stay order following a petition filed by Sandeep Joshi, a local businessman, who sought admission in the junior college for his son, Shubhamkar.

According to Joshi’s petition, the school has two divisions of Standard XI, while 40 students have been given admission in one of the divisions, the other division has been handed over to FIT JEE, a private institution.

The petitioners counsel Anil Anturkar took objection to the move of handing over a complete division to a private institution, which according to him, runs private tuition classes. The counsel pointed that handing over a complete division like this was contrary to the circulars issued by the CBSE Board and therefore illegal.

After hearing him, the bench restrained the school from granting admission to any student in the division let out to FIT JEE till June 14, and adjourned the hearing till that date.
