The Bombay high court on Friday ordered an interim stay on concretisation of the Devnadi in Baner area, till the final verdict is pronounced.

Jalbiradari and Baner Area Sabha had filed a public interest litigation against the Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC)’s concretisation plans in April. The two court had granted a stay on the work.
The citizens’ groups claimed concretisation would increase the danger of flooding  and not allow percolation of rainwater in the ground.

On Friday, the court ordered the Union ministry of environment and forests (MoEF) to conduct a joint visit of the site along with the petitioners and all respondents on November 3. The petitioners have made the town planning department and contractors carrying out the work as respondents in the case.

Anupam Saraph, member of Baner Area Sabha said the Union MoEF, Jayanti Natarajan, might hold a public hearing in the city on
November 25.
