Somebody took the idea of a prank too far when they decided to send a letter to the manager of the State Bank of India on Mahul Road a letter on Monday saying that they would blow up the bank with a bomb on December 29.

The incident took place at around 3pm on Monday. The bank’s manager received a letter addressed to him, via post. When he opened the letter and read it, he was shocked to find the following lines: Dear sir, we will blast your branch with a bomb on December 29, 2012.  If you can, save it!

The letter had been typed out on a computer, and the name of the sender and the address was listed as AB Bismillah, 786, room no 3, TB Gidwani Marg, Chembur - 400074.

“After reading the letter, the scared bank manager rushed to the RCF police station and subsequently handed over the letter to us for further investigation,” said Dilip Yadav, senior police inspector of RCF police station.

Inspector Yadav added that preliminary investigations revealed that the seal on the cover of the letter belonged to the RCF post office, and that the address listed out by the sender did, in fact, exist.

“We sent out police personnel to the said address to trace the sender, Bismillah. However, no one by that name was found to be living at the address. Somebody sent the threatening letter to play a prank,” inspector Yadav said.
