BJP today announced its support to the ally Shiv Sena which is contesting two by-elections to the Maharashtra legislative council against NCP later this month.
State BJP president Sudhir Mungantiwar said his party will support Sena candidates Rahul Narvekar and Nivrutti Jadhav for the seats, to be elected from the MLAs quota and Nashik local bodies constituency, respectively.
The by-election to the seat from MLAs quota became necessary due to the resignation of Shiv Sena MLC Kiran Pawaskar who quit the party to join NCP.
Election to the Nashik local bodies seat is being held to fill the vacancy which arose due to the death of NCP MLC Vasant Pawar.
Pawaskar will face Narvekar on February 21 while the Nashik local bodies by-poll will be held on February 28 in which NCP's Jayant Jadhav will take on Sena's Nivrutti Jadhav.
