Contrary to its two-decade alliance partner Shiv Sena's stand, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supports the proposed Jaitapur nuclear power project.

The Sena had led an agitation of locals against the proposed 10,000-MW project to be developed near Ratnagiri.

The deputy leader of BJP in the Lok Sabha, Gopinath Munde, told reporters at an event in the city on Thursday that the party is not averse to the project, provided the affected people are adequately rehabilitated.

On the Commonwealth Games (CWG) scam, Munde said the opposition parties' campaign on corruption has been vindicated and city MP Suresh Kalmadi should have been arrested earlier.
"Action should be taken against the Delhi chief minister, and other guilty officers," he said.

The BJP leader demanded an inquiry against ministers who recommended individuals to purchase apartments in the controversial Adarsh housing society in Mumbai.

Munde said the Pune Municipal Corporation under the Nationalist Congress Party has left a lot to be desired. He said the "Pawar company" had stolen water of the city by launching the Lavasa project.
