A 25-year-old biker who was riding without a helmet was killed in an accident at Mulund colony on Monday night while over-taking a BEST bus from wrong side.

A 25-year-old biker who was riding without a helmet was killed in a road accident at Mulund colony on Monday night while over-taking a BEST bus from wrong side.

"The deceased was identified as Salim Ansari, resident of Durgha Road, Sonapur at Bhandup (West). He was engaged in a tours and traveling business. He was going to Mulund colony for his personal work," said ACP (Mulund division) Mahadeo Gundewadi. He added that the BEST driver, Balram Verma, was booked under sections 279 (rash driving) and 304 (a) (causing negligence to death) of IPC.

The incident took place at around 6:30 pm at Mulund colony. At Panchratan temple in Mulund colony, Ansari tried to overtake the BEST bus (route no 391). However, while overtaking, he lost balance and fell off the bike and the backside tyre of the moving bus ran over him, crushing his head. Ansari was declared dead on the spot. his body was handed over to his parents after postmortem, said Gundewadi.
