There has been no progress in tracing software engineer Hardik Mukesh Makwana (26), who allegedly went missing on June 3.
On Friday, Hardik’s distraught father Mukesh Makwana arr ived in the city from Bharuch, Gujarat, to follow-up on the progress by the police in tracing his son.
Not satisfied with a missing person complaint filed by Hardik’s friend, Makwana had demanded that the police register a first information report (FIR) as he suspected foul play in the matter. The FIR was lodged only after he threatened to commit suicide before the police commissionerate.
An employee of DB Xento Systems Pvt Ltd in Lullanagar, Hardik who was residing at Spring Field in Kharadi went missing on June 3 following which his friend and colleague Chirayu Kaushik Taylor (30) had lodged the missing person report with the Wanavdi police station.
According to sub-inspector, MS Phunde, Hardik and Chirayu were returning home from office on a two-wheeler on June 3 and took a diversion along the Canal Side Road at Jambhulkar Mala.
Taylor, who was riding the motorcycle, asked Hardik to get down and walk up a steep slope. Taylor crossed the escalated part of the road and waited for Hardik around 100 metres from where he had got down, but he did not turn up. All efforts to contact him on his cellphone also failed.
Hardik’s father said that the family spoke with him on June 3 as his younger sister Rachana had got a job. “The next day we came to know that he had gone missing,” Makwana said, adding that Chirayu had lodged a missing person complaint without the family’s knowledge.
Speaking to DNA, Pune crime branch unit (IV) senior inspector Sunil Pawar said now that an FIR has been filed, investigations would be conducted accordingly.
