Twelve coaches of Gandhidham-Bangalore Express derailed between Bhiwandi and Kopar railway stations post midnight resulting in minor injuries to two persons, including a woman, Central Railway public relations officer AK Jain said.

Earlier Railway authorities had said that 12 persons were injured, but later confirmed that only two were wounded. The two persons - Prabhaben (38) and Jaikishan Rohida (41) were administered first aid, he said.

Jain further said a relief train was arranged and all the passengers were accommodated in the train, which left for Bangalore early this morning.

While local train services have not been affected on the Main and Harbour line of the Central Railway, Jain said.

However, four trains connecting the Western and Central line have been cancelled and two long distance trains were diverted, he said, adding restoration work is on.
