The terror attack at the Indian Institute of Science campus in Bangalore on Wednesday that killed a retired IIT professor has sent shockwaves through the Indian blogosphere.

Blogger and researcher, Kate, wondered if Tata Institute of Fundamental Research would be the next target. Other bloggers analysed the possible reason for the attack and the threat it poses to the security of the nation.

Amit Varma drew attention to shifting terrorists targets -- from "high-impact tough targets to low -impact soft targets".In his blog IndiaUncut, Varma wrote, "I hope our security agencies catch the cowardly perpetrators of this crime and bring them to justice quickly and hope we do not see more of this kind." Rashmi Bansal expressed sadness at scientists becoming the latest terror victims. "I mean, sure, there would be some routine security checks at the gate, but who seriously believes that a bunch of scientists gathered to discuss string theory or particle physics could be of interest to the Lashkar-e-Toiba?" she wrote in her blog, Youth Curry (http://youthcurry.blogspot.com).

Other bloggers have criticised the country's lack of preparedness. R Paurna Krishna a Chennai engineering student, wrote, "It seemed that after attacking our armed forces, Parliament, markets, temples, historical monuments, modes of transportation, foreign embassies, the terrorists were running out of targets in our country. They aim to destroy the very fabric of this nation and hence always try to come up with different targets. Hence this time it was the IISc,the foremost institution of research in our country.
