The campaign against corruption has caught on in Anna Hazare’s hometown with thousands of youth participating in rallies and candle protests.

Hazare’s supporters are working on creating awareness about the Jan Lokpal Bill. “A video with three songs sung by Kailash Kher and a clipping of the support generated in India and abroad for the agitation is being screened at chowks, colleges and schools,” said Sham Asawa, the campaign coordinator in Ahmednagar.

More than 20 organisations in Ahmednagar have come together under the banner of Samajik Sanghatana Mahasangh and are working in different areas to create awareness. A businessman in the city has offered the premises of his six shops for free to the Mahasangh.

In Anna’s village, Ralegan Siddhi, about 2,000 people hold rallies and candle march daily. “The village stands in support of Anna. We have seen him work since we were children,” said Rohit Pote, a young man.
