Recommendation: Remove red-tape for quicker modernization of police with automatic arms and ammunition.
Status: Just talks and no action. Complete modernization yet to be begin and stuck in red-tape.
Recommendation: The committee suggested better handling of intelligence inputs received from the Centre. It had found total confusion in the processing of intelligence alerts at the level of state government.
Status: A proper system is yet to be put in place for intelligence info handling and related action.
Recommendation: The committee recommended that the Quick Response Teams formed in 2003 should be urgently upgraded and strengthened to promptly and effectively counter such attacks, till more specialised forces come on the scene.
Status: A specialized force called Force One has been raised, but it is still needs a serious upgrade.
Recommendation: Working of several crisis management mechanism set up to deal with situations need to be reviewed in Mumbai. This will require looking into setups within the Mantralaya, Municipal Corporations, hospitals, fire brigades etc.
Status: The set-ups are still waiting for a comprehensive review and upgrade.
Recommendation: The report noted that despite receiving as many as six alerts, no significant steps were taken by the state administration to beef up coastal security.
Status: Coastal security still remains an issue. A few patrol boats have been bought, but no integrated coastal security plan in place.
Recommendation: A separate fire and blast proof structure should be constructed on the land available just behind the over 150 year old office building of the Commissioner to provide state-of-the art communications and other sophisticated equipment for better working conditions. This should be given high priority.
Status: This is yet to take shape.
