An alert bus driver, Yuvraj Kenjale, foiled the kidnapping of a schoolboy, Kisan Vishal Sharma (5), from the premises of Spicer Higher Secondary School on Aundh Road in Pune on Tuesday.

The Chatuhshrungi police have arrested two college students, identified as Saajid Taufiq Khan (20) and Rafat Zulfikar Khan (20), both residents Pimple Gurav, for the abduction bid.

According to senior police inspector Mahadev Chavan, Saajid and Rafat are first-year students of a city college.

Chavan told media persons that the boy’s father ran a hotel in Bhosari.
“The duo has confessed to planning the abduction six months ago when they had gone to have lunch at the boy’s hotel,” Chavan said.

According to the police, the two students went to the school on Monday and clicked pictures of the boy on their mobile phones. This was noticed by Kenjale, who quizzed them. The students told the bus driver that they knew the boy’s parents.

Suspecting foul play, Kenjale informed the boy’s mother about the incident, following which she alerted the school authorities and asked them to keep a watch on her son.

When the duo came to the school on Tuesday afternoon, they were nabbed red-handed by Kenjale and the school watchman. Later, the police were called in and the students were arrested.
