Model and actor Arjun Rampal is so upset with the organisers of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week that he plans to stay away from such events from now on.
Rampal had a disappointing experience on Wednesday, when he found that Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif were the showstoppers even though it was promised to him.
Rampal, a seasoned model, agreed to be the showstopper for good friend Rohit Bal’s grand finale. “I agreed because Gudda [as he fondly calls Bal] requested me and I was already in Delhi for a party at Lap [his restobar].”
However, when Rampal reached the venue at 8.45, he was told that the organizers had changed the plans and decided to get Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor to be the showstoppers instead. “Even Gudda was not informed about these last-minute changes.
Can you believe it? The organisers had apparently taken money for the promotion of Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani, so they made these changes without informing anyone. Gudda was so upset that he advised me to not walk the ramp. I walked out and so did Dino (Morea), anotherseasoned model-turned-actor who was also supposed to participate.”
Upset with the whole episode, Rampal has decided never to walk the ramp for any fashion week or fashion show. “I will not walk for a fashion show ever again. The gimmicks that organisers are resorting to are in such a bad taste. I am no longer interested.”
When asked about the rumours of him wanting to walk with Katrina, Rampal said, “Why would I want to walk with Katrina just like that? I have been walking the ramp for so many years, why would I want to do that? In fact, Katrina and Ranbir came to Lap and we partied till four in the morning.”
Famous fashion designer Rocky S said, “I think it is very a momentary decision Arjun has made. There are a lot of egos hurt in the whole issue which should be resolved. These days, walking the ramp is a business and also a great promotion activity for movies. Arjun has been a supermodel and he is extremely good-looking, when he walks he totally sizzles on the ramp.”
Rohit Bal was unavailable for comment.
