A day after a fire broke out at Airtel’s data centre at Malad, several lakhs of its subscribers are still grappling with the network outage.
The data services like 3G, GPRS, CDMA of the telecom company were disrupted for the second consecutive day on Wednesday.

“Voice calling facilities on my connection had still not resumed on the second day. The SMS services were also erratic. It was impossible to communicate till I reached my office, where one could use the landlines. But yet contacting those having Airtel connection was difficult,” said Madhumita Patil, an Airtel user. The customers whose voice calling facility had been activated also complained of connectivity instability. “The network was fluctuating. At one point it is there, the other second it is gone,” said Anish Garg, another user.

Meanwhile, many customers resorted to the telecom company’s tweeter account with their connectivity woes. “Our teams have been working round the clock to restore these services, and we are happy to state that all mobile, DSL and mobile data services have largely been normalized. However, some customers may be facing intermittent network congestion during the network stabilization process. We are working on our Enterprise Services delivery which will start normalizing tomorrow,” an Airtel spokesperson said.
