Manisha Jadhav, the aggrieved mother who lost her daughter, Sharvari, 11, in a mishap, has demanded action against the builder, Baba Sarjerao Kamble.

Sharvari died on January 29 after falling into a duct on the terrace of Swami Samarth Apartment, Balajinagar, Dhankavdi. The Sahakarnagar police have booked Kamble under section 304 (A) (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code, 1860.
Manisha told DNA, “Kamble has built the building with four ducts on the terrace. However, he has not covered any of them.

Moreover, the ducts on the terrace are surrounded by low walls, as a result my daughter fell into one of them. If the duct walls were higher, the mishap would not have taken place.”

Sharvari studied in standard IV at a nearby school. Police sub-inspector Tejaswini Yadav said, “The incident took place on January 29. Sharvari was playing ‘blind man’s bluff’ with five friends on the terrace of the building. She fell into the open duct of the building. We have yet to arrest Kamble, as he is not in Pune.”
Manisha is working at a private hotel and has separated from her husband for the past couple of years.

Residents of the building said on condition of anonymity, “She was a very playful girl and always mingled with us. The mishap was very unfortunate. We got a shock. Such an incident occurred for the first time in our complex.”

The builder could not be contacted for comment.
