They couldn't digest the loss handed to them at the recently concluded civic elections. And to vent their anger, they held Puneites at ransom.

The city on Monday saw three incidents of supporters of defeated candidates going berserk. Tension gripped Pashan area when 40-odd supporters of defeated independent candidates, Sunil Landge and Sugandha Nimhan, allegedly went on a rampage in Sutarwadi beating up over two dozen people, including an eight-year-old boy. They smashed 20-odd vehicles and damaged some 25 houses. The act of vendetta led to a damage of Rs4 lakh.
In Hadapsar, seven Shiv Sena workers were arrested after they allegedly thrashed up four members of a family over suspicion that the family had worked in favour of an NCP candidate.

Two armed men were arrested in Gultekdi Market Yard after they barged inside a house and beat up occupants suspecting they had voted for a candidate they did not like.
