The stage is all set for admissions of students in standard XI in the junior colleges.

There would be over 5,400 additional seats available for standard XI admissions in junior colleges this year as compared to last year.
The centralised admission process (CAP) for admissions in standard XI in different Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad colleges would begin from June 26.

The admissions would take place on the basis of best-of-five rule under which the percentage of students is calculated by taking into account five of six subjects in which they secure the highest marks.
This year, 63,680 seats are available in science, commerce and arts streams compared to 58,185 seats last year.

The total number of junior colleges in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad has gone to 691 this year from 658 last year.

Fergusson College is the coordination centre for the CAP this year.
Addressing the media on Friday, the chairman of the CAP committee and state deputy director of education, Sunil Magar, said admission forms will be sold at all colleges from June 28 to July 2 between 10 am and 4 pm.

After that on July 4 and 5, the forms will be sold at Fergusson College and at 11 other colleges.
These include Sou Sundarabai Rathi Girls’ Junior College (Laxmi Road), Sou Vimalabai Garware High School and Junior College (Karve Road), Shri Shau Mandir College (Parvati), SV Union High School and Junior College (Rasta Peth), Ness Wadia College of Commerce (Camp), Genba Sopan Moze Junior College (Yerawada), Akutai Kalyani Sadhana Girls’ Junior College (Hadapsar), Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce (Shivajinagar), Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar College (Aundhgaon), Mahatma Phule College (Pimpri) and Shri Fattechand Jain College (Chinchwad).

The filled up forms would be accepted from June 28 till July 5 in 22 colleges. On July 6, the forms will be sold and accepted only at Fergusson College.
Magar said all admission processes will be computerised and would be done purely on the basis of merit.

For students who have passed Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) examination, the separate admissions forms have been printed that would be available and accepted only at Marathwada Mitramandal’s College of Commerce (MMCC) from June 28 to July 6. Moreover, students who have passed standard X from a board other than SSC board will have to submit the forms at MMCC only by July 6.

“We are having separate forms for ICSE students since their results are not based on best-of-five system. The ICSE students have to select the marks of five subjects in which they have scored good marks while filling up the forms,’’ Magar said.

“In Pune, there are around 2,500 students from other boards. Hence, there will be no problem of admission. Moreover, this time, we have decided to accept forms of students of other boards at MMCC to calculate the exact number of non-SSC board students,’’ Magar added. The forms are printed in both English and Marathi and the cost of the form is Rs50.

Magar appealed to the students not to purchase forms from any centre other than the authorised centres as those forms will be not accepted at any cost. In order to facilitate the students and parents to fill the preferences of colleges, every form contains a list of cut-off marks for admission in every college.

Every student can get two forms only but those students who want to apply for admission in bifocal can purchase one more application form. To get application form, the students need to show the original mark sheet and school leaving certificate at the form selling centre.
The students seeking admission in the science stream have to secure at least 40% marks in science subjects.

The list of the students admitted in different colleges would be displayed in all colleges on July 21.

Speaking about the admission of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) students, Magar said, “The students who appeared for the examination held by CBSE board but want to secure admission in Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education colleges, should clear the mid-term examination conducted by the CBSE board.’’ “Till then, the admission will be done on a provisional basis but after that, the students need to submit the passing certificate from the CBSE board to the concerned colleges to confirm the admission,’’ he said.

The attested copy of mark sheets, school leaving certificate and if required, a true copy of caste certificate have to be submitted while submitting the forms. Do not enclose any original documents with the admission forms.
