Union Minister and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh on Tuesday said the Adarsh Society scam was a fall-out of misconception and hype generated by the media.

"There was a lot of misconception....It is now before the judiciary. Everything will be clarified now," Deshmukh said, talking to reporters here.

The entire thing was a "media hype", Deshmukh said. "There were so many things, like the land was meant for Kargil heroes and others...The truth will come out now," he said, responding to a question.

Deshmukh is in Goa to campaign for Congress ahead of the March 3 state assembly polls.

Multi-storied Adarsh Society in upscale south Mumbai was originally meant for the kin of Kargil martyrs. It got embroiled in controversy after it came to light that politicians and bureaucrats had got flats there, and the building had no NOC from the Union Environment Ministry, though it stands in CRZ area.

Some of the decisions regarding the building were taken when Deshmukh was Maharashtra Chief Minister. Another former CM, Ashok Chavan, is an accused in the FIR filed by CBI in the case.
