Absconding drug dealer nabbed after six years in Mumbai

A 45-year-old drug dealer, who had fled from the city sessions court in 2005, has been arrested by the Colaba police on Tuesday. Sources said that after escaping, the accused decided to visit the city for a tour.

A 45-year-old drug dealer, who had fled from the city sessions court in 2005, has been arrested by the Colaba police on Tuesday. Sources said that after escaping, the accused decided to visit the city for a tour.

Jainul Abdil Jamal from Tamil Nadu. In 2003, he was arrested by the sleuths of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence in a drug smuggling case. He was then remanded in judicial custody and was lodged in Arthur Road jail. On April 4, 2005, he managed to flee while being brought to the court for his case hearing.

“After six years he was found loitering near CST. He was taken into custody by the railway police. He later revealed that he was arrested by the DRI in a narcotics case and had fled the city. He claimed that he had settled in Chennai since then. He was handed over to the Colaba police,” said an official from Colaba police station.
