5-year-old boy drowns in ditch in Pune

In a tragic accident, a five-year-old boy, Shree Hariram Shejkar, drowned after falling in a ditch on Saturday morning at Triveninagar in Nigdi.

According to the Dehu Road police, Shree and his parents had come to the city to visit his uncle for holidays.

On Saturday, Shree went to fetch his ball from the ditch, but fell into it. Residents informed the boy’s parents about the incident. Shree was rushed to the Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital, but pronounced dead on arrival.

Residents told mediapersons the civic authorities had dug the ditch months ago for pipeline works. They said their constant complaints had fallen on deaf ears.
