4 robbers held for looting Rs31 lakh from courier man

After two weeks the official of the Pydhunie police station succeeded in arresting four out of seven robbers. They were arrested for allegedly looting Rs31.45 lakh from a courier delivery man at Mohammed Ali Road.

According to the police, the incident took place on April 16, when the victim, Nandkumar Gorge, 45, who worked with a courier company alighted from a bus at Mohammed Ali road. He was carrying cash of Rs 31.45lakh in a bag.

“Seven people came on a bike and snatched his bag containing cash. When Gorge tried to resist, a robber attacked him with a chopper and injured his hand,” said Anil Kumbhare, deputy commissioner of police (zone II).

Gorge filed complaint against them at the Pydhunie police station. After investigating for 15 days they managed to trap the main accused Mohammed Mansoori, 30, and one of his accomplices Sirfraj Mansoori, 35, from JJ Marg. Later the police nabbed two more accused, Aurangzeb Khan alias Armaan, 23, from Mumbra area and Mohammed Salim Mansoori, 23, from Pydhunie.

“They have been remanded to police custody till May 10” said police officer.
