Four persons from Gujarat have been arrested by the Pant Nagar police last week for allegedly stealing four dumpers and a Poclan machine worth Rs1.5 crore. The stolen items belong to a transport owner from Ghatkopar (East).

"Suresh Meher, 32, Suresh Rawal, 25, Firoz Mir, 45, and Ismailbhai Patel, 48, were arrested by the police but had been out on bail," said senior police inspector Suresh Nirmal. He added that they are yet to recover the stolen goods from the accused.

A man hunt has been launched to nab main kingpin- Ashwin Ashwar who is still absconding. One Mohammed Khalil, proprietor of SK Transport had given the aforementioned items on rent to Sewree based Sri Krishna Transport owned by Raju Kundalia in January 2009 for three months.

After completion of work, Kunalia’s manager- Ashwin Ashwar met Khalil and promised that he will give the said dumpers and poclan on rent at Songadh, Baruch and Jamnagar in Gujarat. He paid rent for six months collectively to Khalil. But after the initial six months any form of payments were discontinued, despite Khalil's attempts to contact him.

Finally, he lodged a complaint with Pant Nagar police in June 2011.
