The Dahisar police have registered a case against three unknown people for allegedly robbing a 43-year-old businessman and decamping with more than Rs2.13 lakh worth of cash and valuables in the wee hours of Thursday.
The victim has been identified as Ravindra Singh, a resident of Dattani Park area in Kandivli (East). According to the police, Singh, was waiting near the Dahisar check naka for a call centre car so as to reach his home. It was then that the three men came in an autorickshaw and asked him where he wanted to go and if he wanted a lift.
The police said that when Singh told them that he wanted to be dropped off at Kandivli, the trio agreed to drop him and asked him to join them. After reaching an isolated area some distance away, the three men halted the autorickshaw and robbed him of his cash and valuables.
The officials said that because the victim was drunk, he could not exactly register the appearance of the accused and hence has been unable to give a description to the police.
The police suspect the role of the autorickshaw driver. They say he may have conspired with the other three in the execution of the crime.
