3 boys drown in Bhatghar dam

Three minor boys drowned in the backwaters of Bhatghar dam, about 25 km from Bhor, on Wednesday while on a family picnic.

Savio D’Souza (17), Rohit Mathew (14) and Sunny alias Joseph Suse (8), had gone in a group of 25, including their families. While Savio and Rohit were the only sons of their families, Sunny was
an orphan.

While Savio was a resident of Khadki Bazar, Rohit and Sunny were residents of Ghorpadi.

Even as the families were busy preparing lunch, Sunny slipped and fell into the water. The other boys also jumped in to save him, but they also drowned.

The fourth boy, Sujay Chintane (15), who was at the site, informed the others in the group.

The villagers fished out Rohit’s body at 7 pm. Later, they fished out Savio’s body. Sunny’s body was traced on Thursday afternoon.

The boys were students of St Joseph’s Boys High School in Khadki. A case has been registered at Rajgad police station.
