In good news for consumers in areas with low distribution losses and high collection efficiencies, MahaVitaran has exempted 21 divisions from power cuts, owing to their improved performance.
MahaVitaran’s change in the load-shedding protocol in the state will come into force in its 131 divisions across state from May 2.
The divisions’ performance would be reviewed in terms of distribution and commercial losses on a six monthly basis.
The 21 divisions that have been spared the power cuts: Bhandara, Deori, Rajgurunagar, Dhule city, Gondia, Barshi, Nilanga, Saswad, Vaduj, Ballarshah, Wai, Dhule rural, Warora, Baramati, Khed, Kolhapur rural I, Phaltan, Satana, Satara, Chandwad and Kalwan.
Divisions with losses less than 37% in rural areas and 34% in urban areas will be spared power cuts. But, the performance of 31 divisions has deteriorated, leading to them being downgraded.
