An alert woman commuter helped the railway police nab a woman carrying country liquor in a CST-bound ladies special local on Friday and seized 20 litres of hooch valued at Rs600 from her.

An alert woman commuter helped the railway police nab a woman carrying country liquor (hooch) in a CST-bound ladies special local on Friday and seized 20 litres of hooch valued at Rs600 from her.
The woman was identified as Saroja Maglingam Shetty, 30, residing at Vittalwadi near Ulhasnagar. Dilip Gore of the Kurla railway police station said that the police recovered 10 plastic pouches of two litres each concealed in a cotton bag. She wanted to deliver it to someone at Sion. She was remanded in police custody till January 30 by the CST railway court on Friday afternoon.
The woman commuter who spotted Shetty informed the railway police helpline, which passed the message to police officials patrolling at Mulund station. Officials got into the train and arrested her.
