The Mumbai Police Crime Branch on Monday arrested two brothers for allegedly killing one of their distant relatives at Dharavi on September 9. The police claimed that the deceased, an alleged drug dealer, had a longstanding enmity with the two.
The arrested duo has been identified as Abdul Kudus Shaikh(36), and his brother Mohammad Asgar Shaikh, 24.

Explaining the sequence of events, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Himanshu Roy said Kudus and Asgar chased Nooruddin Sheikh, 29, while he was driving his Lancer car on 90 Feet Road in Dharavi.

“The two first broke the window glass of the car and then Kudus shot one round at Nooruddin’s chest with a country-made gun. But since the car was locked from inside, they again broke the window glass and dragged Nooruddin out of the car, after which they stabbed him with a dagger following which Nooruddin died,” said Roy.

Roy claimed that the murder was an outcome of a previous enmity. “Nooruddin was a drug dealer. He was arrested and jailed between 2006–2008. “When Nooruddin was in jail, his mother had asked for Rs10, 000 from Kudus, who refused to help and instead insulted her, which triggered Nooruddin’s anger. In 2009, Asgar and Nooruddin had a fight after the former found a photograph of his sister-in-law in Nooruddin’s mobile phone,” said Roy.
