18-year-old gang-raped in Kalyan

An 18-year-old college student from Dombivli was gagged and raped by two unidentified people outside the Kalyan railway station, early Tuesday morning. Her friend, who was threatened with a knife, ran way from the spot.

We have registered a case of gang rape and threatening to kill, against the rapist,” said senior police inspector AR Jagtap of Kalyan railway police station. The case has been handed over to the Mahatma Phule Chowk police station in Kalyan for further investigations.

A medical check up of the victim at Kalyan’s Civic Hospital confirmed that she was raped. The railway police have collected the CCTV footage in a bid to identify the rapists. The victim’s boyfriend has been questioned.

The victim who was in love with a Pune boy had gone to meet him on Monday. While returning by the Chennai Express, she called another boy friend of hers to come and meet her. The duo met at Kalyan station at around 2.30am and were walking out when the incident happened.

In her complaint, the victim alleged that she and her friend were approached by three men who threatened to kill them. One of them slapped her friend and the other two took her to a nearby compound, gagged her and raped her. They let her go at around 6am, after which she went to the Kalyan railway police station to lodge a complaint.
