Around 15 students from the University of Mumbai will get a chance to ask questions to Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama, who will be visiting the university convocation hall at the Fort campus on Friday.

After the visit of United States’ first lady Michelle Obama, Dalai Lama will be the latest high-profile guest at the varsity. He will talk with the students on ‘Ancient Wisdom, Modern Thoughts.’ After the lecture, he will spend another hour interacting with students, university officials said.

On, 25 December, 2010, DNA had reported about this visit. Almost 400 students from colleges and departments are going to attend this event. Apart from interacting with students, Dalai Lama will also meet academicians from different departments. The programme will start around 2pm and will en by 4pm.

Director of the Board of College and University Development Dr Rajpal Hande said, “We are almost ready with the programme and have beefed up our internal security. We have made a special memento - a miniature of Rajabai Tower - as a gift for the spiritual leader.”

The varsity has almost completed the process of selecting the students who are going to ask questions to the spiritual leader. The varsity has been working on this programme for last 15 days.

They have taken the help of some other college teachers to coordinate this programme.

Apart from the varsity programme, Dalai Lama will also attend another programme, which is organised in the city.
