15 officers of DIG rank transferred across Maharashtra

Fifteen Indian Police Service officers of the rank of deputy inspector general of police (DIG) in the state were shuffled around on Wednesday.

Fifteen Indian Police Service officers of the rank of deputy inspector general of police (DIG) in the state were shuffled around on Wednesday.

Sadanand Date is now officially heading Force One, an elite combat force of Maharashtra Police, created after 26/11 Mumbai attack. Controversial IPS officer Bipin Bihari has been transferred to Nagpur.

Dhananjay Kamlakar, who was posted in Pune, has been transferred to Thane. Kamlakar has earlier served in Mumbai as DCP detection. Date, who was additional commissioner of Central Region in Mumbai until recently, was posted as the head of Force One. Vineet Agarwal has replaced Date.

Prashant Burde, who was additional commissioner (crime) in Thane, has been posted as DIG prisons in Pune. Bihari, who was suspended in an alleged frame-up involving a builder, while he was additional commissioner, has been transferred to Nagpur as DIG prisons.

 Also, Dilip Shrirao, who was posted as DIG (provisions) at the DGP office in Mumbai, has been transferred to the Food and Drug Administration department. Shrirao has also served in Mumbai as DCP in Anti-Narcotics Cell and Anti-Terrorism Squad.

Brijesh Singh, who was, until recently, posted as DCP Zone VIII, has been promoted and transferred to Mumbai traffic police department as an additional commissioner, a newly-created post.

Singh has earlier served in Mumbai as DCP Zone I. BK Singh, who was on central deputation has been transferred to Mumbai as additional commissioner (special security).

Others who were reshuffled, included Ashok Dongre, transferred to Mumbai, Sanjay Latkar transferred to Pune, Madhukar Pandey, who was posted as SP Thane Rural, was promoted and transferred to SRPF in Mumbai as DIG, HV Deshbhratar has been transferred to Solapur city as commissioner, MH Gavit has been transferred to Local Arms Division in Mumbai while Chiranjeev Prasad and RK Singhal have been transferred to Napgur.
