Thirteen people were injured in two separate BEST bus accidents at Powai and Hindmata in Dadar, on Sunday.

In the first incident at Powai at 1.30pm, two people, including the driver and a passenger of bus route number 489, one of the longest routes in the city that plies between Dahisar and Shivaji Nagar in Mankhurd, were injured after the water coolant of the radiator burst when the bus was near Powai market due to overheating.

“A passenger and the driver were injured. While the driver was sent home after first-aid, the passenger, 32-year-old S Dalvi, was shifted to Rajawadi Hospital as he had major injuries,’’ a spokesperson said.

The bus has been kept at Powai police station for technical inspection.

In the second incident, also at 1.30pm, a BEST bus on route number 8 approaching the bus stop, collided with the rear of a BEST bus on route number 1 that was already standing at the bus stop, injuring 11 passengers.

While bus number 8 travels between Mantralaya to Shivaji Nagar in Mankhurd, bus number 1 travels from Colaba to Bandra. “The injured were taken to KEM Hospital,” said a spokesperson.
