The Shiv Sena is aggressively trying to woo Independents to form the ruling front in the civic body.
While the speculations are on about who will support the party, Sena has already contacted several Independent corporators who have shown inclination to either join them or give support from outside.
According to sources, Independent corporators who have confirmed their support to the Sena are Shaikh Illiyas Bashir from Bharat Nagar, Deepak Hande from Ghatkopar, Changez Multani from Juhu, Mohammed Shaikh from Oshiwara, Bhavana Mangela from Andheri, Cyril D’souza from Malwani, Makrand Narwekar from Colaba, Geeta Gawli from Chinchpokli, Vandana Gawli from Arthur Road, Jyoti Alavani from Vile Parle (East) and Leena Shukla from Asalpha Village.
Sena leader Sunil Prabhu, who is in the race for the mayor’s post, said the party will get at least118 seats, much beyond the magic number of 114.
