Internationally acclaimed western classical music conductor Zubin Mehta on Wednesday visited his alma mater, St Mary’s School in Mazgaon, after the historic concert in Srinagar last week to unveil the logo for the school’s 150th anniversary celebration.

On a nostalgic trip through the school’s corridors, Mehta said, “This school has given me solidity and discipline, from which I profit even today.” The school gifted Mehta with an acrylic painting of its campus.

Mehta, who completed his studies at St Mary’s School in 1951, last visited the school in 1967. “Being an alumnus of the school, he was the perfect choice to inaugurate the school’s milestone anniversary celebrations,” said Wilfred Noronha, vice principal of the school. The school will celebrate its anniversary throughout the year with a host of events.
