The vibrant discussion at the Zee Business Ministerial Conclave 2015 held on Friday at the Leela Palace covered every aspect of prime minister Narendra Modi's 'Make in India' mission, with the participating ministers expressing their full commitment to making it a reality.

Group chairman Dr Subhash Chandra said with commitment and faith nothing was impossible. He called on people to not dwell on negatives and concentrate on positives to achieve the goal, and begin with preparing a list of imported products that can be manufactured locally.

The ministers, who participated in the panel discussion that lasted for over two hours, included road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari; railway minister Suresh Prabhu; power, coal and renewable energy minister Piyush Goyal, environment minister Prakash Javadekar; union minister of state for tourism, culture and civil aviation Dr Mahesh Sharma; petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan, union minister of state for urban development Babul Supriyo; and minister of state for finance Jayant Sinha.

Sinha said small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which contribute a large part of the GDP, would play an important part in fruition of the 'Make in India' dream. It's imperative to widen the current tax, which should be done by doing away with tax terrorism, replacing it tax service, he added.

Gadkari reiterated his commitment to build 30 kilometres of road per day and said was looking at developing extensive waterways in the country. He said local manufacturing of seaplanes and hovercrafts would give a huge boost to the government's 'Make in India' initiative.

The minister added that red tapism in the government was lessening gradually with e-governance initiatives, where all approvals can be taken electronically.

Javdekar said while he was all for growth and progress he would not compromise on his main mandate of making India clean and green and will push for full compliance of all environment rules by industrialists.

"There will freedom from inspector raj but not compliance. Quality of air and water will be maintained. Clearance will come quickly but compliance will be enforced," he added.

Sharma said tourism will be a major contributor to the GDP and employment, and he would concentrate on cleanliness, security and hospitality to propel its growth.

Pradhan emphasised that those who can afford LPG at non-subsidised price should join the campaign for foregoing it. Dr Chandra said around 1,770 of his group's employees had agreed to give up subsidy on LGP.

Goyal said with the decisions relating to coal supply and other such issues becoming easier to take under Modi's leadership, India can well be on its way to having 24x7 power by next general election in 2019.

The event also unveiled the jury for 'Make in India' award for those who have transformed India through brilliance in their area of work.
