In an exclusive interview with Zee 24 Taas Editor-in-Chief Vijay Kuvalekar, BJP President Amit Shah re-iterated that BJP and Shiv Sena would contest 2019 Lok Sabha elections as well as Assembly elections in Maharashtra together.

A much-anticipated meeting took place between the BJP chief and Uddhav Thackeray in at Matoshree on Wednesday evening. The strained allies fought the recently held Lok Sabha bypolls separately. Early this year, in it's national executive meeting, Sena had made it clear that it will go solo in the forthcoming Assembly and general elections.

Shah also clarified that he had met Thackeray four times before Wednesday, and that BJP is deeply concerned about its alliance partner's feelings.

In the interview, Shah termed Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' government in Maharashtra "pro people" and said it has made a slew of decisions for the state's progress, such as Jalyukta Shivar and additional remuneration for farmers. He counted off infrastructure projects, speeding up of industrialization and construction of toilets as other citizen-oriented projects.

He said the people will express their confidence in the Fadnavis-led government in the coming polls. At the same time, he played down the tall claims of the opposition unity attempting to take on the current government.

Commenting on Telegu Desam Party's desertion of BJP in Andhra Pradesh, he said that there are always changes in alliance partners during elections. He added that it is better that these divorces happen before elections and not in between, as that creates instability. He said that many new alliance partners have also joined NDA, and now the party has more alliance partners than in 2014.

Talking about his party's national agenda, Shah said BJP has concentrated on farmers issues, LPG, providing fair price for farm produce. He pointed out that farmers have not agitated in the past four years over non-availability of urea, and also that for the first time in the country, an assured price has been provided for farmers' produce which is 1.5 times that of input cost, calling it the party's biggest achievement.
